Artists George Goodnow and Simona Castricum discuss their artwork ‘WAYFINDING’ in situ at Science Gallery Melbourne with Curator Arie Glorie.

The site-specific installation created as part of the Break the Binaries exhibition reimagines local infrastructure to subvert normative, systemic frameworks and celebrate the intersections, transitions and multiplicity of gender and sexuality. Through interdisciplinary collaboration, the artists merge their creative practices in art and architecture to consider queer and trans relationships to built environments, while exploring the potential for urban artifacts and everyday infrastructure to hold queer archives and narratives.

George and Simona will discuss the making of the work and the value of collaboration, as well as the importance of queer and trans perspectives in design processes, by questioning the binary nature of built environments and spatial design.
