Up Tight is a performance and a happening, showcasing a limited edition range of printed hosiery.

Up tight is a personal shared history and story-telling exercise between two Melbourne designers Adele Daniele and Danielle Brustman. Both share a common history growing up in Melbourne in the 1970s and 80s and a connection through their families to the rag trade and local printing factories of that era. Both designers are current studio residents at Collingwood Yards.

Uptight collects fragmented memories and motifs recalled from childhood clothing, photographs and interior décor and reimagines these motifs in a collection of hand printed hosiery. Come see some catwalk legs dancing at Collingwood Yards.

Danielle Brustman

Danielle Brustman’s Melbourne based studio encompasses a broad spectrum of practice, from residential interiors and commercial design for the hospitality, education and retail sectors along with furniture and lighting design for exhibition and installation. Her studio is based at Collingwood Yards.

Danielle works with a rich syntax of colour to conceive works that challenge our perception of private and public space. Her design work is narrative driven and informed by dynamic colour relationships, geometric form and fantastical spaces.

Danielle began her design career working as a set designer for theatre and performance collaborating with some of Australia’s most celebrated theatre makers, companies and artists. In 2012, she established her interior design studio. Her background as a set designer is evident in her work where colour, light and spectacle play a vital role.

Danielle’s installations and design work have also been presented at the NGV Triennial ( 2020 ), NGV Rigg Design Prize ( 2018 ), AFDA Design Prize ( 2022 ) Melbourne International Arts Festival ( 2012 ), Dark Mofo Festival , Hobart ( 2015 ): Salon Del Mobile : Local Milan , Milan ( 2019) : Sophie Gannon Gallery: Designwork 04, (2020), Melbourne Contemporary Design Fair ( 2022, 2023 )  and Melbourne Design Week  ( 2020, 2021 & 2022)
