“Her” celebrates women, their strength, and their ability to make choices about their own bodies. Elena Strohfeldt employs traditional hand-building techniques to create each piece. She uses groggy clay coils layered one at a time to shape the woman, while slip and a palette knife are used to add texture and create imperfections, highlighting the unique beauty of women.

Clay was chosen by Elena to convey this story because of its delicate yet strong nature. Clay begins as a soft mass and transforms into resilient ceramics when fired at high temperatures. Throughout the entire process, it goes through states of fragility and robustness, reflecting the journey of every woman.

The exhibition is dedicated to Elena’s dear friend Natalie Fornasier.
