Commoners Press present a series of public participation printing workshops across three locations. Each workshop will allow participants to typeset their own artwork ready to be printed on one of the Commoners Press letterpress machines.

Participants are invited to generate a response to the prompt: ‘Thinking about the future livability of your community, what three words come to mind?’. Each participant’s statement will be proofed with a portable press, which will later be printed in the Commoners Press Studio and compiled into a folio. Following the workshop series, Commoners Press will exhibit the folios and host a roundtable event discussing the contributions, printing and creative communities.

Commoners Press

Commoners Press is a local startup print studio that works with artists and designers in Australia and abroad on short run projects. We really like projects that are community focused, experimental, sustainable and/or regenerative practice. We have 3 letter presses including a 100+ year old manual press and are currently working with 3D printing as a way of connecting new and old printing technology.
