Presented by the NGV and ACCIONA, this panel discussion, highlights the importance of community engagement in the design and development of cultural precincts and public infrastructure. Attendees will have an opportunity to reflect on the increasingly important role of community engagement, and how it enables organisations to bring community along for the journey.

Featuring leading thinkers from across culture, infrastructure and communications, this panel will discuss the concept of ‘deliberate development’, the process of placemaking, as well as the role of design and consultation strategies to engage with community.

Highlighting the importance of a design-led mindset, speakers will discuss their own approaches to collaboration, transparency, and effective communication with a focus on renewable energy projects, cultural precincts, and transport infrastructure.

This discussion poses the question, “how do we build and embrace community participation around civic renewal and urban transformation?”

The panel will be moderated by Leanne Edwards, Director, Policy & Advocacy at the Committee for Melbourne.
