In this talk, Nigel Bertram will discuss the way NMBW Architecture Studio operates between built projects and research projects, working with a range of collaborators.

Nigel Bertram, NMBW Architecture Studio + Monash Urban Lab

Nigel Bertram is a registered Architect, ARBV Fellow, Australian Institute of Architects.

He is a founding Director of NMBW and Practice Professor in Architecture at Monash University. He has a Master of Architecture from RMIT University and was awarded his PhD from the same university in 2010. He is currently teaching at Monash University and has taught at RMIT University for over 20 years collectively. He is also a Design Review Panel member for the Office of the Victorian Government Architect.

He has authored a number of research publications, most recently In Time with Water: Design Studies of 3 Australian Cities edited with Catherine Murphy (UWA Publishing) and Suburbia Reimagined: Ageing and Increasing Populations in the Low-Rise City with Leon Van Schaik (Routledge). Nigel has a range of experience working with government and university bodies at different scales on NMBW’s urban and institutional projects.
