Edwin Fox Furniture proudly presents a unique restoration demonstration located in one of the most iconic Mid Century buildings in Melbourne – the 1958 Robin Boyd Walsh St house in South Yarra. This year, Edwin Fox has teamed up with Mid Century restorer pro, Richard Lloyd, providing participants with a special opportunity to learn and experience some industry insight into the world of furniture restoration, as well as an amazing piece of Melbourne’s mid-century past.

For those interested in the restoration process, lovers of mid-century furniture or inquisitive newcomers, the Boyd House invites everyone to experience this one-of-a-kind and unique MCM house. Over the weekend of the 20th & 21st of May, there will be four identical 3-hour demonstrations/workshops, both in the morning and afternoon. Participants will be shown by the experts, various methods, skills & practices all used in the restoration industry, demonstrating an approach to restoring & reviving mid-century furniture in 3 steps.

The demonstration/workshop will cover an introduction to furniture design, history & construction, workshop safety and basics, introduction to ECO-friendly timber refinishing with natural timber products, other finishes such as varnishes, stains, oils, polishes, etc. Additionally, it will include an introduction to timber restoration; stripping, sanding & re-finishing, basic upholstery; webbing, top cover fabric application, aftercare/maintenance, Q&A, a guided tour of the house, tea & coffee, and bad jokes.

For all other information, including price & event accessibility, please see the ticket link. Please note that all sessions are identical, and participants should allow for 30 minutes before the session starts.
