Explore works by artists and designers who are shaping the cultural landscape of Melbourne and Victoria. This educator-led introduction to Melbourne Now at the NGV’s Ian Potter Centre will enhance students’ understanding of contemporary creative practice. Students will analyze and interpret works of art and design, engaging in discussions about ideas and perspectives related to culture, representation, and curatorial considerations that relate to the presentation of works.

The learning objectives of this program are to analyze and interpret the cultural and intersectional influences and ideas expressed in selected artworks in Melbourne Now, substantiate interpretations of artworks with evidence taken from the artworks themselves and with reference to a range of sources, and discuss how curatorial considerations and practices influence the interpretation of art works.
