What does creative practice in Melbourne look like today? Melbourne Now offers highschool students a thought-provoking introduction to contemporary art and design, along with ample opportunities to explore and discuss diverse ideas, perspectives, and art forms. This educator-led program at the Ian Potter Centre of NGV will engage students in discussion and analysis of various works in the exhibition, such as Lee Darroch’s 10-meter-long installation made from driftwood collected on Country and Georgia Bank’s Databaes, where a chatbot hopes to fall in love.

The learning objectives of this program are to analyze and discuss different forms of expression, ideas, and perspectives of contemporary artists and designers, and to discuss how artists and designers utilize materials, techniques, technologies, and processes to achieve their artistic intentions.
