On a chance visit to Palm Springs, Greer Honeywill was drawn to the desert gardens and elegant lines of the area’s celebrated modernist, post-war houses. This inspired Lost in Palm Springs, a book and associated exhibition exploring the intersections between art, architecture and life and the interconnections between Australia and Palm Springs.

In this live, in-store conversation, author Honeywill talks with architect and communicator Stuart Harrison about her experience in the famous epicentre of midcentury Californian modernism, and how it changed her perspective on architecture and the better place to live.

Greer Honeywill

Greer Honeywill is an award winning, multidisciplinary artist, author and curator, whose practice encompasses installation, text, object making, textiles, photography, video and sound. Within her practice she explores the theatre of the domestic, the poetry of the ordinary and interconnectedness with architecture. Like an ethnographer or taxonomist of the domestic she endlessly sifts, searches and reclassifies gatherings of data, stories and objects that provide endless speculation about the domestic built form and the effect on the lives of those living within.

Stuart Harrison

Stuart Harrison is an Australian architect and good design advocate. He is a specialist in the re-use of buildings and believes in a strong link between history and contemporary practice. He has worked across architectural practice, teaching and media during the last 20 years. Stuart is director of Harrison and White (HAW), has worked in public radio, television, academia and has authored three books on housing.
