Incrementum Interitus explores the collaboration between designer and nature within a fashion and product design context. It is an immersive installation that reveals a speculative bio-based future.
Through this project biological matter is transferred from fundamental living forms, and then through human interaction becomes a usable product.Working with the fabric of the natural world the bio-organisms of kombucha, fungi and mould are used to grow, make and decay material. This is done by collaborating with microbial matter and harnessing their processes of fermentation, transformation and growth.
The exhibition features a series of garments, objects for the home and research samples that explore the possibilities of a bio-based future in design. All of these products are processual and will decay and return to the earth in their basic bioforms at the end of their material life. The properties of these materials mean that the grown objects will be forever changing and morphing. Continuing to self-design.
A capsule collection of grown products will be available for purchase.
