Flower & Light: Design elements of Ikebana, a flower arrangement workshop.

Domestic Fantasies presents a modern iteration of traditional Japanese Ikebana floral arrangement with AM – PM workshops led by Toko Tazawa.

Design can be something that is created for a moment in time – the lifecycle of the flower, the first rays of light at dawn.

Domestic Fantasies presents a modern iteration of traditional Japanese Ikebana floral arrangement with both AM & PM workshops led by Toko Tazawa. Participants will utilise Domestic Fantasies’ handmade resin Ikebana vessels to learn the art of minimalist Japanese flower arrangement using maximalist flowers, vessels and tools. Our Thursday evening session will include champagne and snacks and our Saturday morning workshop will offer matcha and pastries. Participants tickets cover professional tutorial, flowers, tools & Japanese Ikebana Kenzan. Everyone is given the option of purchasing their unique Ikebana vessel at a discounted rate.

Extremely limited spots available, just 12 per session.

Ikebana 生け花 is the Japanese art of ‘making flowers alive’. The basic principles of Ikebana are simplicity, asymmetry, and the use of empty space to create harmony and balance between the floral elements and the surroundings. Ikebana floral arrangements contain design elements symbolising heaven, earth, and humanity existing in unity. In ikebana, the work or journey is just as important as the final result, just as enlightenment can be achieved through concentration and practice, so can the perfectly balanced ikebana.
