Step into a world of handmade, textured ceramics that support the visually impaired in the exhibition Sight Ceramics at Seekers Optical in Fitzroy.

The design and creation of these textured ceramics celebrates the different ways we can connect with our environment through our sense of touch. The idea for Sight Ceramics was inspired by Rukaiya’s experience volunteering at NextSense (formerly known as the Royal Institute for Deaf and Blind Children). Witnessing the positive impact NextSense has on the lives of visually impaired children highlighted the importance of textures for their ability to understand and connect with the world around them.

As a ceramicist, Rukaiya primarily creates wheel-thrown functional ceramics that aim to raise awareness about visual impairment. All proceeds will be donated equally between two not-for-profit organizations: Sight for All and NextSense.
