This event is a rare opportunity for diners to peek behind the curtains and witness the collaborative efforts of chefs, tableware designers, and the hospitality community to gain an appreciation of how the modern Australian dining experience is collaboratively crafted.

Throughout the four-course meal, key members of the community who have contributed to or benefited from The Good Plate share their insights, providing an entertaining and informative experience for diners. Participants will gain a unique understanding of the intimate relationship between the food, chefs, tableware, and diners, all of which must come together seamlessly.

As part of this exclusive Melbourne Design Week program, diners receive the bowls and plates they use during the event as a keepsake of the evening.

Scarf

At Scarf, young people seeking protection and those from refugee and migrant backgrounds are given an opportunity to transform their lives by gaining employment and contributing to the hospitality industry with heart and flavour. Scarf, a not-for-profit organisation with charity status, was founded in 2010 and operates as a social enterprise.

At the heart of Scarf’s operations are its trainees, but meaningful roles are also played by diners and mentors. Scarf trainees are the focus of the organisation, but diners and mentors also play a crucial role.
