Seating available Wheelchair accessibleCAN trash become shiny?! Presents one of the most interesting artworks by Massimo Corsini. His artistic research’s red thread is a reflection upon the notion of consumerism and the nature of waste in our society. Massimo converts junked aluminium cans into his distinctive, creative medium to forge new, different and functional objects. The event displays lighting and pieces of furniture designed through this very act of repurposing. The peculiarity of these artworks resides in their glamorous and shiny character: they are polished, elegant and opulent pieces, which seem, at first glance, to have nothing to do with trash. A slightly more careful scrutiny, though, will unveil their upcycling traits and it will open room for the public’s imagination to recognize and recall a very familiar object, part of everyone’s everyday life. The contrast between aluminium cans’ modest role and the new artistic dignity, conquered after a careful process of artistic transformation, raises ethical questions regarding the notion of repurposing and it encourages to think about discarded objects in an unusual way.
