With the recent public dissemination of text-to-image, image-to-image, text-to-video and text-to-model technologies among others, designers have been presented with a broad range of novel capacities. Both local and international creative practitioners from a range of design disciplines present and discuss how their engagement with these capacities augments their creativity. The event will also be an opportunity to reflect on the larger considerations of how AI may affect the ways in which we design and create the worlds that we want. While discussions centre on how it is currently used in the creative process and what the future transformations may be, it is also intended as a space to speculate on how this sustains or transforms existing design practices and lineages.

Hilary Campilan is an Australian content director, exploring experimental forms of AI animation and stills. She is a senior creative at ABC, and the former head of design at MTV.
Hilary enjoys working in any medium, from live action, motion graphics, stop motion, to that new thing everyone is talking too much about, AI. Her passion is collaborating with dancers or musicians, to make short music videos, using AI as part of the creative process.
Patrick Macasaet is a Lecturer and Ph.D. candidate at RMIT University, School of Architecture & Urban Design, and Principal of SUPERSCALE, a research and ideas‐led experimental architecture studio operating between the nebulous terrains of speculation and reality; experimental and pragmatic; between fiction and non‐fiction. His research interests lie in the bridging of meta‐typological and procedural design-driven techniques and their engagement with contemporary cultural concerns through gaming, open‐world environments, speculative projects, and pedagogy. In 2022, he was awarded the AASA Education Prize for Early Career Academics for his work in venturous digital and online learning pedagogy that integrates gaming intelligence and technologies. His work has been exhibited at various architectural and design events including Shenzhen Architecture Biennale, Venice Architecture Biennale, ACMI Audience Lab, Melbourne Design Week, and Biennale of Sydney.
Mond Qu is a multidisciplinary designer and the founder of United Make (www.unitedmake.com) – a creative studio that specializes in human experiences, products and stories. Mond pushes the frontiers of design through the act of making; from deep materials research, visceral immersive experiences, interactive artworks or modular furniture, to large-scale speculations. Being an international keynote speaker from TedX, Wired For Wonder, and Universities Mond challenges designers to innovate and embrace the challenges of the 21st century.
J. Rosenbaum is an artist exploring the boundaries of technology and art. Their most recent works examine the nature of non-binary transness and their gender and sexuality. They create technologically based art using physics-based rendering, Deep Neural Networks, and Augmented Reality. They are continuing their research into computer perceptions of gender with their Ph.D. at RMIT.
